Trust the computer industry and/or the media to shorten the phrase: "Year 2000" to the cryptic acronym: "Y2K".
To quote another commentator:

Besides, the solution of using 4 digits for the date will only cause a similar problem 8000 years from now when the
year 9999 rolls over to 10000 and requires 5 digits!
