These pages cover Ian's interest in Computing, from the very early days
when personal computers were little more than oversized calculators
through to the latest systems with over 1,000 times the speed and capacity.

Welcome to Ian's Computing Pages
From the day I toyed with my first computer back in the 1970's, I've had a real affinity
for, and developed considerable skills in, the field of computers. Besides turning my
hobby into a career, I've found that my family and friends often turn to me for sensible
computing advice. It therefore made sense to incorporate some of this advice into my web
site so that it could be shared by people world-wide.
Here's a brief rundown of what you'll find in this section:
|
|
Ian's Computing History
How my early interest in all things technical, mechanical and electronic naturally led
me into the newly emerging field of Personal Computers.
|
Ian's Minimalist Setup
Advice on simplifying your computer setup to reduce the problems caused by an overly
cluttered system.
|
Ian's Computer Programming
(Page Under Construction)
Here's my section on grass-roots software programming, producing highly optimised
micro-programs as opposed to the more common "Bloatware".

|
The eternal promise of computers simplifying and enhanching our lives is often
overshadowed by the amount by which they themselves complicate our lives.
